ABOUT TintaDia

My Story

“Dia” comes from the spanish translation of “Day” and I am a 1st generation Mexican queer artist. I was raised in the Midwest from the Dakota lands known as Mni Sota Makoce by two chilango parents. I have a background in observational painting and drawing with a main interest in illustrative ink drawings. My other interests include writing, and haircutting.
My journey in tattoo began in 2019 in Mexico City with the help of a local artist family friend. With the continued support of friends and family I have been able to create work for people throughout the twin cities of Mni Sota and now for locals, residents and visitors of O'ahu where I currently reside.

My mission is to continue learning the intersections of ink, “home”, mind and body wellness, through a decolonizing and re-indiginized way of research and conversation, and practice tattoo as a way of returning back “home”.
